Nestled between the lush, rolling hills of the Margaree Highlands and the beautiful Margaree River, lies the Big Intervale Fishing Lodge. The Lodge itself was built in the 1970's, first as a private home and then transitioning into "the Salmon Camp", as it is fondly referred to by locals, in 1997.

In 1997, Ruth and Hermann Schneeberger immigrated from Switzerland and purchased the property. Over the years, the Big Intervale Fishing Lodge has attracted fishermen and women from across the globe, all itching to fish one of North America's finest Atlantic Salmon Rivers.

The lodge has a fine restaurant and a choice of cottages.

Operated by the Normaway Inn, this vacation property is a four bedroom converted barn on a twenty acre private property fronting on the famous Margaree River and the Lake O Law Brook. Twenty minutes south of Margaree Harbour.

Each of our 3 suites has full housekeeping, a 4-piece bath, satellite TV, wireless internet, electric fireplace and sliding doors onto their own private covered in decks with barbeques and a view of the Margaree River. Spacious 1, 2 & 3 bedroom housekeeping cottages with satellite TV and 4-piece baths. One of our 1 bedroom cottages is wheelchair accessible. Wireless internet is available in suites and cottages.

Our cozy cottages are built from top quality northern white cedar logs. The all-wood interiors have cathedral ceilings. The cottages have queen size beds. We are ideally located across the road from the Margaree River, great for fishing, swimming and relaxing. We have plenty of land, perfect for walks, outdoor games, and some exploring. We provide a rustic serene experience right on the Cabot Trail in Margaree Forks and are central to other touristic towns, such as Cheticamp, Pleasant Bay, Inverness and Baddeck. We are surrounded by beaches, the National Park, golf courses, whale cruises and live entertainment.

Welcome to our inn established in the 1920’s on 500 acres. You will find licensed gourmet dining, music room with traditional music, concerts & cileighs in our barn, hiking trails, tennis courts, landing strip, fishing guides and bicycles. Cranton Cottages is an excellent location for day trips to all points of interest on Cape Breton Island.
Cranton Cottages is located 2.2 Km (1.4 mi) off the Cabot Trail, in the heart of the beautiful Margaree River Valley.

We offer 6 full housekeeping cottages (1 one-bedroom and 5 two-bedroom; queen, double and twin beds). Each cottage has a 4-piece private bathroom, satellite TV, free Wi-Fi and a ramp for easy access. Laundry facilities are available on-site.

The Duck Cove Inn has 24 tastefully decorated units to welcome the travellers after a hectic day of sightseeing or just visiting friends. Our guesthouse began life as a 4 star bed and breakfast, with two upstairs bedrooms, (each with a 4 piece bathroom), lounge area, Satellite TV, Internet and free long distance US and Canada, included. . (Remember, cell service in much of the Margaree Area is non-existent). There is also a hiking trail on the property and over 200 acres to explore!

Several years ago we turned our lodgings into a housekeeping rental by adding a fully equipped kitchen including microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and, of course, a BBQ. The farm is a working trout farm, containing a well stocked U fish that is enjoyed by both guests and the public. Trout for dinner, (or breakfast!), can be wonderful particularly right off the barbeque. (We do charge for the fish but will provide equipment
and even catch them, if necessary!)
